REVIEW: Zero B – Lock Up (Sonny Wharton Remix)

Zulu Records.

Rating: 8/10.

Ex Manumission resident and Whartone Records boss Sonny Wharton delivers a slice of peak time, main room house with his remix of Zero B’s classic ‘Lock Up’.

The nostalgic, old school sampling reminds us of less serious, more carefree time in club-land, while the heavy rolling bass brings us bang up to date and drops us in the middle of the dance floor. Sonny’s years of DJ experience and obvious production skill make this one of the stand out remixes of Lock Up.

Rave heroes Zero B are enjoying a well deserved wave of appreciation, not only from recent remixes of Lock Up, but also from a string of well received new releases, including ‘Never Enough’ feat. Rowetta of Happy Mondays fame, while My Digital Enemy’s Zulu Records continues to go from strength to strength celebrating it’s 5 year anniversary this year.
